Brazilian tennis legends united to honor IC Rod Laver South American Junior Challenge 2019
São Paulo, August 14th - A new chapter was written with the return of IC Rod Laver South American Junior Challenge to Brazil. The clay event in São Paulo, hosted at Sociedade Harmonia de Tênis, is supported by juniors from Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Uruguay.
As the IC tradition requires, each national team were represented by your leader in the Capitain’s Meeting: Thomas Stalhandske (Argentina), Luis Fabiano Ferreira (Brazil), Kerman Urresti (Chile) and Marcelo Filippini (Uruguay).
In order to celebrate the new edition of the tournament, great Brazilian tennis legends, like Jorge Paulo Lemann, Luiz Mattar, Cássio Mota, Carlos Kirmayr played a doubles exhibition before they joined the formal launch dinner at Sociedade Harmonia de Tênis, also supported by Gustavo Herrero, vice president of Internacional Club and Nelson Aerts, president of IC Brazil.
The wednesday night was special for Eugenio Saller’s family as well. They shared his past memories in tennis and life as an example for the young players. “All of you should have perseverance, dedication and never forget to make friends as a tennis player”, said Carla Saller, daughter of Eugenio, who passed away two years ago.
