IC Singapore Visit to IC Hong Kong - 10 to 13 October 2015

IC Singapore visited IC Hong Kong from 10 to 13 October 2015.

The IC Singapore team - XT Tan, Maddie Noda, Cecilia Hu, Iris Chan, Leslie Lim, Marc Koh and Paul Wong - flew into Hong Kong on 10 October 2015. The team stayed at the Excelsior Hotel, which was kindly arranged with the help of IC Hong Kong's Chris Lai.

On 11 October 2015, IC Singapore played a friendly match at the American Club. The match was arranged by Alfred Lim, Leslie's brother, and Alan Hung of the American Club. Alfred and his wife, Stephanie, were to become our de-facto hosts for the entire visit; showing the team to some of the best places to eat in Hong Kong. The American Club ladies were led by the very able Gail McDermott. Alan also secured the services of Philip King, a recently retired top 150 pro. Since we had told Alfred and Alan that our men would all be around Leslie's standard, we now know that Alfred must really be a good brother for telling Alan that Leslie plays at a retired top 150 ATP pro standard. The friendly was played on a morning which threatened to be ruined by rain by turned out to be a lovely morning for tennis. The final score escapes us now but it appeared that the American Club might have edged us in the end.

On the next day, 12 October 2015, our team walked over the the famous Chinese Recreation Club for our match with IC Hong Kong. We were greeted by Chris Lai, captain, and the IC Hong Kong team of Jenny Lin, Jenny Kwan, Eunice Lu, Vivian Chong, William Lee, Edmond Ho, Stanley To and Louis Wong. The match was played in the IC spirit of "Hands across the net, friendship across the ocean". After an enjoyable set of matches, IC Singapore came out in front 5-3. IC Hong Kong promised a return match in Singapore in 2016.
